Auch der Raum ist mit dem Urknall entstanden und dehnt sich seither aus.
Außerhalb des Universums gibt es aber keinen Raum und deshalb kann es auch unmöglich ein Außerhalb geben.
Von daher ist es eigentlich gar nicht so eine komplizierte Sache.
Wir machen es nur kompliziert weil wir uns nicht so recht vorstellen können das auch der Raum endlich ist.
Die Vorstellung von einem Außerhalb setzt ja einen unendlich großen Raum auch außerhalb des Universums voraus. Aber den gibt es nun mal nicht.

Gerd, ganz so in Stein gemeißelt ist es nicht, es könnte eine sehr "komplizierte Sache" sein.
Das kosmologische Standard Modell könnte eines von unzähligen Universen beschreiben. Die Theorie der "ewigen Inflation" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/…%20scientists%20worldwide. wird von Kosmologen durchaus erst genommen.
Both Linde and Guth, however, continued to support the inflationary theory and the multiverse. Guth declared:

According to Linde, "It's possible to invent models of inflation that do not allow a multiverse, but it's difficult. Every experiment that brings better credence to inflationary theory brings us much closer to hints that the multiverse is real."[21]
