NASA’s Ingenuity helicopter may attempt its first flight on Mars

NASA’s Perseverance rover carried an experimental vehicle all the way to the red planet: a Marscopter. The rotorcraft, named Ingenuity, could attempt to lift off on this date. If it succeeds, it will be the first powered flight on another planet, demonstrating the potential for aerial exploration on other worlds. While originally planned for last week, NASA needs to update the Ingenuity's flight software before it tries to lift off, and will provide a more precise date for the experiment soon.
