My sole target with Lowell's 42-inch telescope is the asteroid 65803 Didymos, whose satellite was crashed into by a spacecraft a month ago. It is high enough to observe at 1:00 a.m., and I follow it until dawn. The other telescope operator leaves a bit before midnight, so an hour of unused time is available. In the past couple nights, I have used this time to take single 5-minute exposures of galaxies. Here are ten of them, in various sizes and shapes.
This telescope is over 50 years old, and it's not completely up to modern mechanical and optical standards, so I'll ignore any comments on the imperfection of the star images. Focus instead on the range of galaxy morphology. After the ordinary, face-on spiral are a few barred spirals at various inclinations to our line of sight. At lower left is a spiral seen exactly edge-on. NGC 128 is another edge-on spiral, but it shows a "box-peanut" bulge. NGC 520 is classified as "peculiar" as a result of a merger. The last two galaxies are dwarf irregulars about a tenth as far away as the other eight.

Da traf es sich gut, das ich vor ein paar Tagen mit dem "first light" meines ASKAR 130PHQ auch "dort" war:
Hier zum Vergleich mit der 1. Aufnahme oben: Mein M74 vom 27.10.22, 19:08 Uhr, mit ASKAR 130PHQ und veLOx385c auf AZ-EQ6, 76 x 8s, SharpCap 4.x, keine Filter, kein Guiding, nur Lights, post-processing mit Win10 Fotoeditor.
Obwohl mir kein APOD gelungen war 
zeigt mein Ergebnis doch überdeutlich, welch Zugewinn an Beobachterspaß mit EAA möglich geworden ist.
Solche Ergebnisse helfen dann auch den unrealistischen Wunsch nach "more aperture free" (vorerst) wieder einmal zu unterdrücken
