Russia could launch the Luna-25 mission to the moon’s south pole.

The Soviet Union’s final moon mission, Luna 24, ended in 1976. Now the Russian space program wants to return to the lunar surface. Luna 25, a stationary lander, will study the regolith of the moon’s south pole as well as plasma and dust in the thin lunar atmosphere.
