The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 13 crew's return to Earth

<p>On this day, John Swigert, Fred Haise and James Lovell returned to Earth several days after their goal of landing on the moon was foiled by an explosion of an oxygen tank. The mission was a “successful failure” that showed that NASA could not only send men to the moon but rescue them when things went wrong.
