Astrobotic may launch its first moon lander for NASA

<p>NASA has relied on private companies to create new capabilities for the government agency, such as building spacecraft to carry astronauts and cargo to orbit. It is now trying a similar approach for transporting scientific instruments to the moon. Astrobotic, a Pittsburgh company, aims to be one of the first recipients of such a NASA contract to land on the moon, with its Peregrine spacecraft. The mission is also to be the first flight to orbit of Vulcan Centaur, a new rocket from United Launch Alliance. We will provide a more precise launch date when it becomes available.
